On the last weeks, we had really nice dining experiences and today I will talk about three restaurants in different areas of Manhattan and with different proposals. One of them is in Harlem, one in Midtown and one in the Upper East Side.
April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman, owners of The Spotted Pig, the Breslin Bar & Dining Room and Salvation Taco bring a new take on the American classic hamburger through their new restaurant Salvation Burger. With fresh ingredients, a nice environment, an open kitchen and a great selection of beers, the place has been playing the game of best burger in the city. The price is not the cheapest, but the experience is worth it! In addition to the Salvation Burger, with blue cheese, there is the Classic Burger with homemade cheese and special sauce, and fish on bun, with breaded fish, the place also offers a vegan option and The Dog, a gourmet hot dog. Prices range from $14 to $25. I ordered the Classic one and enjoyed – the special sauce is really special and the meat is soft and tasty. It is on my list of favorite burgers in New York. We have been there on a Saturday around 1pm and was not very crowded.

This is an option for those who like not obvious places. Red Rooster is located in Harlem and is very well rated on Foursquare – what caught our attention and made us go check the place, which is ranked as 4 in the app as the best place for comfort food. Red Rooster is specialized in cuisine of the southern United States – or Soul Food. The atmosphere is a delight – you can choose a table inside and enjoy the funky atmosphere that the place gets with live jazz, or sit outside, if the weather permits. The drinks are super special and the menu is to behold. The waiter, very friendly, helped us in the choice of dishes. We ordered two appetizers: Dirty Rice and Shrimp, and another dish that I do not know the name, with toasted bread, bacon and turkey breast. The main course was Fried Yardbird, a kind of fried chicken, accompanied by mashed potatoes. We share everything and we left well satisfied. The price of the main dishes ranging from $ 18 to $ 37. It’s not a very cheap place, but the food is delicious and the atmosphere is really cool.

I love Thai food – and here in New York there are many restaurants to try these delights. Some days ago, we have been at Thais New York and I was surprised with the food and the prices. The highlight is the fixed price lunch. There is an option with starter and main course, for $8.98, an option with soup, starter and main course, for $ 10.98, and a chef’s special option, with starter and main course, for $ 12.98. Entrees include egg rolls, dumplings, salads … In the main dishes, there are lots of Thai cuisine such as fried rice, curry and noodles. I chose the lunch with entry and a dish – chicken soup with coconut milk and beef with garlic. Thiago opted for the chef’s special and ordered fried calamari and Texas Pepper Steak. All very well served, well seasoned and very tasty. Another highlight is the drinks from 11h30am to 8pm, like Martini, Mimosa, Sangria, wine, Mojito, Margarita or Hot Sake for $ 5, and beers for $ 4.
