What I love about New York is that here there is a lot things to do for free, specially in the summer. And one of the most interesting things is the chance to see a famous musician/band concert. Yes, that’s right: free concerts in New York – you didn’t read wrong. Good Morning America, one of the most famous morning shows on American television, promotes every year the Summer Concert Series in Central Park, with shows by various artists and the 2016 lineup has been announced this week.
A lot of famous musicians had been on the stage in the last years, like Jennifer Lopez, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran, Florence + the Machine and Nicki Minaj. The schedule for the 2016 season is full of famous names and starts next week:
5/20 – Ariana Grande
5/27 – Flo Rida
6/3 – Pitbull
6/10 – Iggy Azalea
6/17 – Demi Lovato
6/24 – Brad Paisley
7/1 – Blink 182
7/8 – Kenny Chesney
7/15–TBD
7/22 – Sia
7/29 – TBD
8/5 – X Ambassadors
8/12 – Keith Urban
8/19 – TBD
8/26– Jason Aldean
9/2 – Jason Derulo
Ok, now that you know the schedule, how to get there? Well, Good Morning America rolls from 7 to 9 am on Fridays, at Rumsey Playfield, in Central Park. Access can be made by the entrance of the park on 72nd street and Fifth Avenue, from 6 am, when the park opens to public. But if you are a fan and if you want to save a good place, arrive early – at 6 am, there is already a line!
The Ariana Grande (5/20) and Demi Lovato (6/17) concerts will require tickets in advance for entry. Tickets will be available closer to the performance date (general, on Mondays of the concert’s week) and fans should check back for more information on how to obtain free tickets. Check the website and also the Fan Page. It’s also good to check to know when the program announces the concerts for July 15th and 29th and August 19th.
