Oh, coffee! Love it or hate it! I only met people passionate about the drink or those who can stand coffee. If your relationship is love, welcome to the club! I love coffee! And New Yorkers love coffee! There are coffee shops scattered throughout the city – they are also favorite places of those who don’t like home office. Another curiosity: coffee is drink that is popular all year round. Ice coffee is a super popular drink in the warmer months (I hate, but okay). Well, since we are talking about coffee, today I will suggest five places nothing obvious – for those who want to get away from Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts.
Juan Valdez it is a brand from Colombia. I was in Medellin twice and only heard good things about the coffee – so bought a lot of packages to take to Brazil. The country has strong tradition and name in coffee production. And the brand has coffee shops too. In New York, there is only one address, but it is well located. In fact, Juan Valdez has only four locations in the United States. In addition to the diversity of coffee (cappuccino, espresso and the Filtered Coffee) the place also has other special drinks like frappes and milkshakes and delights from Latin cuisine as arepas and empanadas!
Address: 140 E 57th St.
Caffé bene is a Korean coffee chain and is strongly present in New York. I’ve been to multiple addresses, and the atmosphere is very warm and cozy. The menu includes 12 coffee varieties – among them, Espresso, Macchiato and Cappuccino – plus frappes and smoothies. Another highlight of Caffé bene is due to the delights like waffles, served with ice cream, cream or yogurt, and also the macarons, delicious! There is also a wide variety of breads and cookies.

If you wanna try some Brazilian pastries, you should visit Padoca! With a super charming environment, Padoca has a super friendly staff and a full menu of Brazilian delicacies – such as coconut cake and cheese bread. One of the things I loved to try there was a Red Velvet brownie , a delight!
Address: 359 E 68th St.
Irving Farm was established in 1996 here in New York. One of its highlights is that the chain itself is responsible for coffee roasting process. Another highlight is that the locations also sell beer! That’s right! In addition to the varieties of coffee, there is also lemonade, tea, hot chocolate and hot cider. Speaking about pastries, there is a special variety of bagels and also brownie, cookies and tarts.
Addresses: 71 Irving Place / 88 Orchard St / 224 W 79th St / 1424 Third Ave / 89 E 42nd St (Grand Central).
Gregorys Coffee chain began in 2006 and today they have 18 locations in New York – not bad, right? – and is known for its excellent customer service. There is also a loyalty program – every $ 50 spent, you earn $ 5 in credits to spend – which is great for those who drink too much coffee, right? There are also pastries such as muffins, cookies and donuts!
