Sometimes, someone asks me for suggestions of romantic places to dine here in New York. There are people in honeymoon, there are those who use the trip to a marriage proposal, there are those who celebrate wedding anniversary or there are those who simply do not need an excuse to enjoy the city in a romantic way, right? Right! I’m tired of saying that this city is rich in gastronomy and, certainly, there are lot of options. Today, I talk about four restaurants with great food and that fit perfectly in a romantic occasion.
If you watched the first Sex and the City movie you probably remember Buddakan – is where the rehearsal dinner of Carrie and Big took place. It’s huge and has an amazing, super refined and modern decoration. It is impossible not to be charmed! Buddakan serves modern Asian cuisine and its proposal is based on sharing: when we were there, the girl who served our table explained that the ideal is to take several dishes to share. There are not huge portions, keep this in mind. I remember we ordered a steak and a fish with a side fried rice – this, yes, enough for two people. The menu includes meat and fish, noodles. The appetizers are also diverse and the desserts are delicious! Anyway, it’s an unforgettable experience. You can check out the full menu on the site. And I recommend to make a reservation!
Address: 75 9th Ave – side Chelsea Market.
Central Park is one of the obligatory spots for a romantic trip. Walking through the park, having a picnic, renting a bike, enjoying the scenery. And inside the park is The Boat House restaurant, with an amazing view and it will definitely yield a super romantic meal. Siting next to the windows, enjoying the view of the lake, it is unforgettable. Prices for main courses range from $ 16 to $ 26, a very fair value, and the food is very tasty. Do you want to increase the romance of the occasion? Take a ride in the gondola in the lake – the gondolier is a Brazilian, Joseph Gama, who has witnessed several marriage proposals. Reservations are needed! I also recommend make a reservation in the restaurant. Check out the full menu and more information on the website.
Address: Central Park – entrance by E 72nd St.
This one is not in New York but in Jersey City, New Jersey. The advantage? The spectacular view. Liberty House Restaurant is located in Liberty State Park, a park with one of the most beautiful sights of Manhattan. The restaurant is huge and it is located in the park and has tables inside and outside. In the menu, the main dishes (from $ 15 to $ 21) include meat, fish and pasta, and sandwiches and burgers are super neat, not counting the appetizer options. There are also wine, drinks and beers. The food is delicious and there are special brunch on weekends – sometimes with live music. Again, best to make a reservation.
Address: 76 Audrey Zapp Dr, Jersey City – check out this post and see how to get there.
For those looking for a more intimate experience, I recommend Porsena! It is a very cozy Italian restaurant, with music and lots of candlelight. In the menu, the highlight is pasta! There are several types and there are also risotto. Porsena prices are also good – the pastas are around $ 20 and desserts $ 8. It is very well located, not far from Union Square. If the menu has not changed, I suggest order Sedani al Norcino with ricotta, garlic and black pepper and also Anelloni pasta with lamb sausage, mustard seeds and a touch spicy. A delight! I have been there twice and did not make reservations, it’s good to ensure, right?
