And the subject is … food! In New York, we walk a lot to visit the places and also for shopping. And we have to eat too! There are those who do not like to spend a lot on food and there are those who enjoy different gastronomic experiences and exploring different types of cuisines. The good news? You don’t have to eat only fast food if you want to save money … I’ve already shown it here in the blog in several posts. And today I’m show you 4 more great affordable restaurants here in New York. They are located on the Upper East Side – and now have easy access to the Second Avenue subway. As I live in the neighborhood, I end up exploring many places here …
San Matteo Pizza & Expresso bar – recommended by guides like Zagat and Michelin, San Matteo is a very typical place with Italian customers and Italian management. The restaurant is small but cozy, and is always crowded! The menu has pizzas from $ 11, which are enough for two people. The dough is delicious! I loved the one with cheese, truffles and prosciutto. Another highlight is the “pizza con Nutella” ($14), warm, with lots of Nutella and served in a way that already fills your eyes. San Matteo also has typical starters, such as a cheese plate and burrata.
Addresses: 1739, 2nd Avenue – menu. / 1559 2nd Avenue – this location also offers pastas and I think they don’t have the Nutella pizza. menu.
Mughlai Indian Cuisine – I love Indian cuisine! I love well-seasoned food and the Indian dishes are amazing. Contrary to what many people think, not all dishes are spicy. This restaurant is one of our favorites here in New York – this is because they have a special promotion every day at lunchtime – 11am to 3pm – with a 50% discount on all dishes. Attention because you have to order everything separately. We always choose a curry of each, with sides like rice and naan. All this costs, on average, with the discount, $ 22! It has options with chicken, beef, seafood and even vegetarian! Check the menu here.
Addresses: 1724 2nd Avenue / 329 3rd Avenue.
Vietnaam – the Vietnamese cuisine is also a show of delights. One of the highlights is the sandwiches and, in Vietanaam, they are super well-served. There are options with pork, chicken, beef, shrimp … starting at $ 10. I would say they are enough for two people – and you can order one more appetizer. The menu also has options such as soups, salads, fried rice, noodles and other meat dishes, with values of $ 15 on average. There are many options even and you can see them all here.
Address: 1700 2nd Ave.
Tenzan – for those who enjoy sushi, Tenzan’s lunch menu has very economical options, such as the Lunch Combination – from the photo above – which costs, on average, $ 10, and comes with 6 pieces of sushi, a meat (shrimp, chicken, etc.). ), Rice, 3 spring rolls, dumplings and soup! There is also the special sushi, which comes with sushi, rice, soup or salad, for $ 10 on average as well. The rolls cost from $ 5. Oh and the large beer (for two people) costs $ 6.50. You can check out the full menu here.
Address: 988 2nd Ave.
Did you like the options? Here you can check out a post with a lot of things to do in the area.
