If I got $1 for every time I read a “Visit Apple store” on a travel itinerary to New York, I could definitely buy a lot of Apple smartphones. It’s a fact. But, did you know that Samsung has a greater store and one of the coolest spots of Manhattan? In the heart of the Meatpacking District, next to the Chelsea Market and the High Line, Samsung has opened its first spot in Manhattan and, look, it would cause envy to any other technology store around the world.
First, it’s not a store. Samsung 837, as it is called, is classified as a “digital playground.” There, you can experience all of the latest brand launches, hold meetings at your desks, have coffee with the famous Smorgasburg curator and even enjoy a sound while one of the resident DJs commands the live playlist. The most incredible? There is any product for sale. That’s not the point. Don’t expect a boring salesman asking you questions at any time. Samsung wants – and hopes – that those who visit get to know and experience the brand a little more.
The interactive screen is amazing: there are 96 TVs with 55-inch display. Can you imagine? There are almost three floors of TV facing an open auditorium. What I like most? Experiments on Gear VR, Samsung’s augmented reality glasses. In one of them, you feel like doing bobsled in the middle of the winter Olympics. The most impressive, in a set of 20 seats, simulates perfectly a roller coaster in partnership with Six Flags. There is also a floating chair that even gives upside-down turns. Almost an amusement park without leaving the city. On the 2nd floor, you can experience what is a connected house, with all the appliances of the brand. On a few minutes, you will feel like you inside a Jetsons episode. There is also a 360-picture cabin with the 360 Gear Camera.
The best part? Everything, except the food, is 100% free. It is very common to see people coming to the store to have meetings at the tables on the 2nd floor. No bureaucracy. Space is made for it. At this point, you must be asking yourself: what if I want to buy something from there? Just talk to one of the “attendants” who can tell you the nearest store or website for you to complete the purchase. For anyone who is a fan of technology is an extremely necessary visit. I assure you, there is much more to be explored than I mentioned! The Samsung 837 also promotes very cool and free events! To check the agenda, just click here.
