4 Mexican restaurants in New York

I usually say I’m a good eater – I like almost everything and love trying different cuisines. But of course, I have my favorites. No doubt, the Mexican is at the top of my list. I love nachos with guacamole, I love a piña colada or margarita, I love a burrito or quesadilla! Here in New York, the choices at Mexican restaurants abound, and I will now indicate 4 really nice to you.

Tortaria – is the Mexican restaurant that I love to repeat – and also bring my friends. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cool and the price is fair! It is like a bar, with music, low light and a lot of young people, as well as common retro decor in many Mexican restaurants. Best of all is the price: burritos for $ 7, quesadillas for $ 6 pies for $ 8. In addition, the drinks also have fair prices. My order there is always beef chimichangas (look like small burritos with crispy batter) and nachos with guacamole – is divine. Remember that this is the place that  you arrive, you pick a table and make your order. A good place to end the day!

Calexico – founded by three brothers from California, this restaurant started with a food truck – already awarded as one of the best in its second year of operation. The menu includes tacos, burritos and delicious nachos, elected among the best in New York for vehicles like Zagat. In addition to the food truck in SoHo, Calexico has a restaurant in the Upper East Side  and three in Brooklyn. And the prices are great too – burritos for $10 tacos for $4 quesadillas for $ 9. The best burrito I ate in New York was in Calexico.

El Paso – if you don’t know, Harlem is a neighborhood rich in gastronomy – then, let’s not be prejudice about the region? El Paso is at East Harlem area and has a very good note on Foursquare, great app to find restaurants. Besides the very cool environment, El Paso prices are very attractive. Burritos for $ 9, trio of tacos for $ 8 and a glass of sangria for US $ 5 – a relatively cheap price for a drink in New York. On weekends, the restaurant has a special brunch menu – but gives to ask for the traditional menu as well. By the way, if you want more details about the courses and prices, just click here.

Address: 1643 Lexington Avenue.

Maya – if you are looking for a more fancy restaurant for dinner, I very highly recommend Maya. The space is large and has a cool atmosphere, with plenty of young people and lively atmosphere. Maya has a neat Tequileria, inspired by the local tequileria in Mexico, with more than 200 varieties of spirits. In the menu, the highlight is guacamole: in addition to the traditional version, there are other with bacon and tuna. Accompanied by nachos, it’s great as an appetizer to share. Other highlights are the special corn and shrimp quesadilla. Mexican dishes are different and nothing obvious and very, very tasty. The menu is different for lunch and dinner and I recommend to make a reservation.
