Restaurants in New York: Lucky Bee and Delicatessen

I know it has been a while since I have posted restaurants suggestions here on the blog, but it happened that the last few weeks were atypical due to my moving apartment. Last weekend, we have been in very interesting restaurants. Our experiences were cool and I will talk about them in the post today. In addition, the neighborhoods where they are located are great.

Lucky Bee – I read about this place and the pictures called my attention. The decor is beautiful – and I am of those who end up getting in a restaurant just because this detail (I know, sometimes you can’t judge a place by the way it looks). Anyway, Lucky Bee recently opened in the Lower East Side and its environment is really, really cool. The food is Asian, but with a farm-to-table concept, using organic and local ingredients, which ensure fresh food and full of flavor . I’ve booked a table and when we arrived, our table was in the bar. After talking about the fact with the hostess, she put us on a table. The menu is super lean, with some “small plates” options, as appetizers, and the “big plates”, main dishes. For appetizer, we ordered tuna tartare, and as a main course, Red Curry of King Prawns. We shared everything! But if we had not asked for an appetizer, the main course would not have been enough just for two of us. Curry was delicious, with huge shrimp and a nondescript sauce, very tasty. We also had two drinks – one served in a coconut. The prices of the main dishes are $25, in average. I think it’s good to make a reservation before – you can do this on the website and also check the full menu.

Delicatessen – 4I heard about this place in SoHo in one Snapchat. I must have walking in front of Delicatessen several times when I was in the neighborhood, but I confess that the place never caught my attention. But after hearing so many good things about cheeseburger spring roll, I needed to check it out. Saturday, we chose the spot for lunch. The structure of Delicatessen is huge – there are plenty of places to sit and we did not wait for a table. The spring rolls are one of the starters available and we ordered one for the table – there are three rolls in the range, for $12 – and a portion of truffled fries ($9). We loved it! The roll is really delicious, with a spiced meat + cheese and truffled fries is amazing, a very generous portion. We also ordered a burger – Signature ($ 20), which comes with some special ingredients. Everything was delicious and the service is great too. The menu is quite complete and you can check out here.
